Can be purchased at Languages Direct, Waterstones or Amazon (first hand or second hand). This book is used for levels Pre-Intermediate 1, Pre-Intermediate 2, Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2.

This course is suitable for students with a Pre-Intermediate level of Spanish (i.e. have attended a Pre-Intermediate 2 course, can use a variety of tenses with certain confidence, can understand general conversations with certain easy, respond to general questions with certain ease and engage in general conversation with certain ease. Students joining this course should have previously covered most of the content in our Pre-Intermediate 2 course programme.

The level B1.2 refers to the European CEFR levels and is similar to the first part of an A Level in terms of grammar.

In this course you will have the chance to…

  • Meet new people with a common interest and have fun learning together ☺
  • Have face to face conversations in Spanish with the tutor and classmates
  • Continue developing your listening, speaking, interacting, reading and writing skills
  • Expand and consolidate your knowledge of Spanish to an B1.1 level of the CEFR
  • Develop your speaking and interacting skills using a range of verb tenses.

By the end of the course you will have acquired the necessary language skills to understand a native speaker talking to you at a moderated native pace and about a range of topics. You will also be able to talk with further confidence about those topics, combining different verb tenses.

After completing this course, students will be able to continue with their Spanish studies by joining the Intermediate 1 course (B1.2 Part 1).

Terms & Conditions

  • There will be a maximum of 15 students in the class.
  • The course materials included in the price are any materials used in class (i.e. handouts, games, PDFs, Power Points, audio files and links to online activities), which will be sent by email as well.
  • Students will have to buy a classbook, which will last 4 courses (Beginner 1 and Beginner 2 + Elementary 1 and Elementary 2) and cost around £20.
  • If a student misses a class, learning materials will be provided by email and any handouts only given on paper format in class will be handed out in the next session. After revising those materials at home, the student can email the tutor to ask any questions they may have. Missed lessons will not be refunded.
  • Cancellation policy: if a student wishes to withdraw from the course, they must notify SCB by email. With 2 weeks notice or more, full refund. With 1 week notice, 50 % refund. With less than 1 week notice, no refund.
  • For the course to go ahead, a minimum of 6 students is required. If the week before the course starts a group has less than 6 students registered, that group may have to be cancelled and registered students will receive a full refund. Alternatively, the course can still go ahead, but the fee will have to be increased.
  • In order to complete the full A1 level of the CEFR, students will have to complete the Beginner 1 (A1.1) and Beginner 2 courses (A1.2).
  • This course does not lead to an official certificate; students can register for official DELE or GCSE exams independently. SCB can advise on where to take the exams and offer additional exam preparation classes.
